Cote du Jura Rouge
/I urge everyone to explore the lesser known wines regions of the world. Not far from Geneva is the Chateau Chalon appellation, in Jura.
It rekindled my love for wine. 100% Savignin aged under flor, it's like unfortified sherry, my heaven If you can find it...buy it...it's a revelation!
My favourite Chateau Chalon producer is Jean Bourdy. If you are in that part of the world you must arrange a visit. He is a true character, his family have been making wines there since the 15th Century.
You can taste and buy some of the best value aged wines in the world...going as far back as 1915!! .
This 2009 Cotes du Jura Rouge is a blend of pinot noir, trousseau and poulsard. It tastes like a red Burgundy of twice the price. Elegant sweet herbs and strawberries...absolutely delicious
