Louis Roederer 1975 Vintage Champagne

How does this still have bubbles! I can't believe this still has bubbles!!

Louis Roederer Vintage 1975 bought from a restauranteur in Switzerland who was selling off his old cellar. Kept perfectly for all these years it's actually drinking ok. I wouldn't say I love it but it is an intellectual bottle of champagne....Something to think about, to ponder, to analyse and to enjoy whilst eating Eggs Benedict for breakfast #mmmm.

It has such a golden colour, reminiscent of the 'not having drunk any water for 3 days' dehydrated colour. Still smells like a biscuity beast but doesn't even have a semblance of fruit left. However I will say one thing...it is rich! Has very fine bubbles but they do tend disappear rather quickly.

I would say I'm quite impressed. Definitely very mature but I think it just goes to show how phenomenal Louis Roederer Cristal truly is  There such a vast difference between the ageing potential of Vintage Roederer & Cristal.

I've been lucky enough to try both the Cristal '89 & '90 & thought they were both fresh as a daisy, still young with lots still to come. Where as this is sadly on it's last legs.

My advice is buy Cristal and tuck it away for 20 years...it will blow your mind  Either way it's incredibly exciting to try a bottle that's 8 years older than me.
